Recently there is an information circulating, that there will be acid rain in some part of Nigeria. What is acid rain? Acid rain is believed to be a result of air polution. It occurs when any type of fuel is burnt. Smoke released from fire, car, engine, factory, power stations etc produces air polution, that contain nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxe with tiny droplets of water in clouds to form surphuric and nitric acids. The rain from these clouds then falls as very weak acid. This is why it is called acid rain.
THE DISADVANTAGE
Acid rain can cover great distance, take form of snow, dry dust or rain.
Should this happen in Aran-orin how prepared are we? It is necessary to educate our people on what it is and how they can prevent them. We should let them understand, that it is dangerous and harmful for us to harvest this type of rain. Health is wealth ooo.
Aran-orin is one of the communities in Irepodun Local government Area of Kwara state.
