NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTION POSTPONED IN IREPODUN KWARA STATE NIGERIA

Ilorin - The Independent
National Electoral
Commission, INEC, in Kwara State,
Saturday 2nd April, 2011 said elections into
some federal constituencies
in the state will not hold as
scheduled.
INEC Public Relations Officer
in the state, Mr Jacob Ayanda,
said elections into the
Senate in Kwara Central and
Kwara South Senatorial
districts were suspended by
the commission because of
shortage of ballot papers.
The spokesman said up till
Saturday morning, the
commission had not received
some sensitive materials to
be used for the elections in
the affected parts of the
state.
He told the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) the
election for Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal
constituency was also
suspended. The suspended Election in Irepodun affected Aran-orin, Omu-Aran, Arandun, Oro and other towns and villages.
Ayanda said the election into
the federal constituency was
suspended because the
name of Dr Olusegun
Ayobamidele of DPP, who
was validly nominated, was
omitted by the commission.
That was the reason given by state residential Inec chairman in Ilorin before nationwide Election postponement.
